After putting on my IMS 10 gallon tank I now have the old tank and guards spare.
If anyone near Sydney is interested let me know and I will put up the details and pictures.

Interested in the tank; how's the weight?, what is the useable capacity? was it easy to fit the vacuum lines etc?....

It is exactly the same spec as the one on the bike in the other post that you put up a tree, minus the petcock and fuel cap which are on the new tank.

G'day, how do you like your IMS tank? Did it take long to get here, I have been waiting nearly three weeks for a 10 gallon one to arrive.

Hi George, welcome to the forum.  Welcome

This is a link to my thread on the IMS tank;
http://klrworld.com/forums/fuel-system/ims-10-gallon-tank/msg258617/#msg258617

And this is a link to MacGyver's excellent wright up;
http://klrworld.com/forums/fuel-system/ims-10-gal-adventure-tank-for-08-klr/?topicseen

If you have one on the way both should provide you with information of interest.

 Cheers!

 Welcome George! Zombie's got you covered with those links. Both threads are excellent and I believe Zombie's has some pics of potential clearance issues that he has provided great fixes for.

Thanks for the great direction Zombie! thumb

I just recieved my white 6.6g IMS tank yesterday,which took 2 weeks to arrive.I ordered it from Just Gastanks.
 Great value i thought,for $332 delivered ya cant go wrong.
 I know the 10g cost alot more but i was really intereted in the radiator protection rather than the increased fuel capacity.
 Looks like a good quality product,
 I might do the hot water thing to get a bit more capacity though.

Hi dazza, for those of us with 08+ bikes the 10 gal is the only real replacement option, with your 05 you have more choices. I have yet to see the 10 gal on the first gen bikes, if you know of anyone who has, get some pictures for us.  pics

As far as the quality goes all the IMS tanks I have seen are constructed well, for those who I know of who have come across the known issues in the seams or a pin hole, IMS has treated them well in the replacement,  thumb , a positive move keeping their good name.

I am guessing that no one close enough to Sydney has a damaged 08+ tank they want to replace so when I get around to it ill put my old one up on eBay for $1 to see if I can move it.

 thinking... Would you believe that even posted on ebay I could not find anyone who wanted my old tank and guards.
Before I left on my trip my wife posted the tank and guards with no reserve and a $1 start point, because I want them to go to a good home not to make money, and there was not one bid on them.  Hmmmmm...
I had thought that surely there must be someone who can get to Sydney that needs a tank and guards?  puzzled
 banghead Guess they will end up in a skip bin no longer loved by a KLR.  Waaaaa!

Everyone must have seen how much we like our IMS tanks and created a surplus of stock ones.
I would not have been able to do my trip with a stock tank, there were a number of places where the fuel was further the the stock tanks range.

Now there's a thought for a future KLR-RR
A spot in the middle of nowhere with a special tree where old KLR bits go to die.
The tree of  thinking....  Maybe it could be a place of pilgrimage,somewhere to worship the great gods of KLR and leave offerings of appeasement.
A camp site with with absolutely nothing but a  thinking... tree.A place of pilgrimage for the true believers-----this could be BIG.

It should remain unnamed... here's the deal-
  poke   Now listen up... Any visitors who have to ask a name, not recognizing a Doo shrine... are not worthy of worshiping the Doo gods! Now listen up...

icant make 200klms before hitting reserve on my LITTLE tank and my bladder has a smaller capacity than that

i couldnt ride 200 klms without a pithstop so i cant see the value in a monsta tank that keeps the bike going

for 4 to6 hrs when me bladder barely makes 2hrs
