Has anyone tried the new Starbucks instant coffee?

I have to find a good coffee system this year.

use the folger coffee bag, they look like a tea bag, but with coffee. Personally I can't support starbucks, they refused to donate anything to the troops in iraq.

I don't like *$ either. And, no offense Gunny, those Folger's coffee bags make a horrible cup. Blech! For travel coffe a french press is pretty hard to beat, if a bit futzy. I bought a lexan coffee press from REI (REI brand, under $20) and use it at work and for camping.

JaySoy - FWIW, I have tried *$ instant coffee. It produces a decent cup and seems like it would be super easy to carry around everywhere, I just don't like Starbuck's. Don't know why...

edit: I also really love my stovetop espresso maker, or moka pot. It makes, great, strong coffee once you get your grind and heat nailed. Yummy.

The story about Starbucks not supporting the troops in Iraq is reported to be false.  For details, see snopes.com.

I was a little disappointed with the high price of the instant. Sounds more like an instant way to make a lot of cash  Greenie

well the other choice is to take  the coffee of your choice and put a bit in a coffee filter tied with some string or a rubber band, boil the water, drop the "bag" in it and cook as desired. I've done that a lot in the past, if you use a rubber band, you only need to take a few filters if you let the old one dry out in the sun for a bit..

My wife bought me a Starbuck's coffee press.  Doesn't take much room and fits in the rack on the bar or in the tank bag.  Nothing like a hot cup in the morning or hot chocolate (LittleDave) Too funny! Too funny! Too funny!

Cowboy coffee.

Is that good?  Isn't that were you let it soak cold overnight and then heat it the next morning?

Yep,  that was supposed to be a false report.

I don't trade at Starbucks because I refuse to stand in line and pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee.

Put coffee directly in cold water. Bring to boil. Take it off the heat. Then put in a little (maybe 2 or 3  tablespoons per cup) cold water and the grounds will sink to the bottom. Then you can pour it out of the container and enjoy.

Cool!  I'll have to try that.  I like the taste of french presses, but hate cleaning them out.

Not being a coffee snob, I am okay with the Folgers Coffee Singles - the little 'teabags'.  The coffee is a bit muddy and weak, but drinkable.  On a camping trip, even their single-serving instant crystals is okay.  Just don't expect it to taste like 'real' coffee.

I DON'T do "Four Buck's" coffee.

The Aerobie Aeropress is the best travel coffee I've had.  I like it so much that I use it at work, along with my twin wall titanium cup.  Sort of like a French press, only the coffee is pushed through a filter and the grounds are compacted into a little puck that gets spit out the bottom making clean up quick and easy, even on the road.

Don't know where you guys are buying $4 Starbucks, but I can get a medium size for $1.97 in Illinois and their coffee is great. Lots of other places charging $1.50 for a cup of tastless stuff they call coffee.

Recently tried the Starbucks VIA instant after hearing people rave about it. It's hands-down the best instant coffee I've ever had by a long shot and IMHO is actually worth the $1-a-cup price. It's the only instant coffee I've ever had that doesn't taste like instant coffee.

Yer mileage may vary, as usual...
