Hello all.. so i just bought my first KLR today. whahoo. I am currently working in Alberta and bought my bike here however i have a BC drivers licence class 5. i move back and forth between the two provinces. kinda of a gypsy and my plan is to put a surf rack on do all necessary mods to drive it down through central and south America. So my question is what is the better province to get a licence and insure it in. Are there pros and cons to the two any way let me know what you guys think. thanks in advance for and info

Welcome to the forums Travisty.. you have the right bike ! Based on another riders post in the forum here... **do not** get insurance in BC... check out his comments on the second page of this post: http://klrworld.com/forums/eastern-canada/canadian-bike-insurance-quotes-i-got-for-a-650-klr-what-is-yours/25/If you get a chance after deciding insurance..... post what your insurance worked out to in that link so that other riders may benefit. Ride safe as you can ~b~

Yha hey bc is more exspencive. (Bring Cash) got a few quotes nothing worth posting yet. So to add to my original are there pros and cons while south of the boarders to continue paying Canadian insurence if I have to buy Mexican insurance do I cancel the Alberta insurance to save a couple duckets? Or are there benefits to having multiple insurence going. I'm sure it will all work it's self out like it tends to do.

I just bought my first bike yesterday and still haven't done my skills test so can't ride it. I just wanted to say that I saw a klr for sale in tofino with a surf rack on it. I think the add was on kijiji.ca. He might sell it to you or give you specs to build one if it's homemade or tell you who makes it.

I was in Tofino a week ago on my VFR ya ya I know it should have been the KLR. What a spectacular place. If any one wants a great pizza while in Tofino go see Tony at Tony's Pizza 131 First St. Tony is a motorcycle owner and rider...check out the two vintage scoots in the restaurant..Italian made late 60's Harley Davidson 125 enduro and a similar vintage Yamaha enduro.
