OK guys...last spring we did a Haliburton Spring Ride over a weekend, sort of a meet and greet. We staged it from Minden at the South Winds motel. We got 13 KLRs out for our first attempt, hoping for many more this spring.
We ride the scenic backroads with some very light trails as the trails are so muddy at that time of year. Plus...some people aren't trail riding types.
So..is there an interest from this site for such an event? We had people show up from as far away as Sauble Beach across to Ottawa.

So ...please post up if anyone is interested in joining in and where exactly you are located.

We try and do 3 rides ..Saturday we do either one long ride(like last year, may have been too much) or two shorter rides and one shorter ride Sunday before we head out..if people want.
We play it by ear and the majority rules so to speak.

Last years Ride was a huge success and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Interested???

Sounds like a good idea to me Willys.  I've been threatening to ride up near Algonquin for some time.  Keep us posted as I may be able to swing that.  I'm in Lucan, north of London so only 6 hrs away from Haliburton.

I'm not too sure maybe 2 1/2 hours???  we had a few from Ottawa last year that came out...they enjoyed it and said same time next year....so you may have riding companions for this year...?  We haven't talked about a date yet..too early..but i like the May 24 weekend...make it a 3 day event if possible..gives you that much more riding time.  But it willbe up to Jazzdog as he is the ride director as he lives up there. and of course the majority rules rule....lol   Stay tuned......

I would like to see an Ontario section here as we now have quite a few riders here now!  More than double from last year and growing all the time.  There are many in your area.

  Hello Mr. Willys ,

Thought I would pop in here and say hello to Canada Guy when I saw the thread .

I have met Canada Guy in person . You Canucks will enjoy his company thoroughly for sure . Good to see you found and registered on the forum George . You'll enjoy all Willys has to offer the KLR community for sure .
Maybe we shall meet again under better circumstances and get to do some riding . I'll let George explain the circumstances we met under . Never the less , good folks good times to be had .

OK..guys...the long weekend in May falls on the 15-18. So how is that for the majority? We don't have to use the entire weekend if need be....there is plenty to do and see in the area I'm sure if we wanted to stay the entire weekend. Jazzdog is the man in charge as he lives in the area so I'll pass it off to him and he can decide on the final aspects of the ride even if he needs to change the date....
Instead of rushing up like last year on the friday night we can ride up on the staurday and hopefully get there by noon thus making it a bit more relaxed. Not to mention helping to keep the costs down a bit for the motel or camping fees.

So...lets get the discussions going on what everyone thinks on this ride also.

We had a record setting 13 KLRs out on our first ride last year..lets see if we can't beat that this year!

Last year we stayed at the South Winds Motel in Minden....will probably do the same this year.. I would suggest booking early as the ATV boys fill this motel up quickly once spring hits. It is a good central spot for all in the Haliburton/Minden area and is cheap. They have rooms/cabins/trailers and camping....so the choice is yours...This year i will be doing the camping thing to prepare for the Manitoulin Island and James Bay adventure to make sure I have the bike set up correctly.

Hope to see you all there...It will be a blast!!!
