Not only good looking but good performing. Good forks, good brakes, good tires/wheels, and about 90 hp, I believe. Friend got one. They had one sittin' on the floor in Harlingen.

Very cool rig ~ but that would be the best looking Harley Street bike ever.
This is the best looking~working~performing Harley ever built ~ and what the XR1200
was built to emmulate.
This particular one was bulit by Scott Parker in 1999 and has a C & J Chassis ~ way cool.

A Sporster warmed over to look like an 40 year old XR 750?  How innovative.

Good-lookin is good-lookin, no matter if it's new or 50 years old. That Storz bike--WOW! One of the only Harleys I'd be hot for. Who wouldn't get hot for that thing?

There is a lot more to the XR1200 than a "warmed over" Sportster.
A "40 year old XR750?" Arguably the most successful racing motorcycle in history...pretty good DNA I'd say.
++ for the Storz version.

The KLR...now *there* is some innovation for you!  I'm all ears

put a set of clubman bars on it, a small "old school" fairing and I'd love it. The old xr750 was a hot ride, a friends dad had one back in the '70s and we used to sneak it out when he wasn't home, way fun for a hog  Awesome

You misquoted me.  I did not say it was a 40 yr old XR 750.  I said it was a warmed over Sportster to look like a 49 yr old XR 750.  Being a previous XR 750 owner, I would never put in in the same class as the Sportster, which I have also owned.

I'm curious.  What are the differences in between the regular 1200 cc Sporster and the XR 1200?.

A month or so i read up on this bike and for a change it sounds like HD did put some thought into the handling this time.
I would think the Storz folks improved on that too.

They did and still do produce over 100 HP ~ the longest lived and most
successful racing engine of all time. In flat track racing it's not just about
how much power you can make ~ but rather how that power is made and
transfered to the track. The XR750 does that better than any other. Don't
think that I'm just another cheerleader for the Motor Company 'cos I'm not.
The XR750 is one hell of a race bike and that's just fact.

For those of you out there who have yet to witness a Mile Track race you
don't know what you have been missing ~ go see one this summer I guarantee
that you will be more than impressed by what you'll see.

I have seen them run at Memphis. It was awsome. Speeds of 130mph+ are a site to see.
