Welcome aboard Chris. Where's your place and what's on the tech menu? I'm in the Edmonton area. Are you on ADSMC?

I'm down in Calgary...that's not to far to ride for a tech day!?  I've only had my bike since July but it's seen some serious farkling already (what alse is there to do in the winter months?).  I met Owen and Manny at one of the last local tech days.

As far as tech days at my place...I have a 24 x 32' heated shop out back and I'm planning on doing the doo and subframe upgrade but anything goes.

What is ADSMC?

Nice - heated shop. I heated my garage this past fall and have sure enjoyed being able to do some wrenching this winter. Helps the days go by. Just completed my Doo and have my brother's to do probably next week.

ADSMC is the Alberta Dual Sport Motorcycle Club - and is a Group on Yahoo. Signup and check out what's happening in your area. As a matter of interest there is a North/South get together planned for Red Deer on the 17th of this month. Unfortunately I can't attend but if you are interested I can get you some more info or maybe rvfixerguy will jump in and let you know what's happening since he is doing the cooking - well at least arranging it.

They are currently experiencing tech problems though so the site is down.

Hey Neil. Welcome aboard. The 07 looks good. Are those Pelican 1550's on the back? I just ordered a set myself. What is your mounting rack?

The boxes are Doskocil and the rack is a Happy Trails NW. I purchased these from Gadget as he is planning on upgrading. Owen was nice enough to meet me in Edmonton while I was in town for the motorcycle show, and I thought it was a pretty good deal for these. My next project is to do the Doohickey upgrade, time to rip apart the new bike.
How about your KLR?

I've got a couple of 04's. You can see  them here: http://klrworld.com/forums/index.php/topic,1479.0.html

Just installed a the TWC wire upgrades, a dashboard c/w 12V outlet and geated grips. My brother also has an 04 on which we did the Doo last Saturday. We've got a couple of Pelican 1550's on order and will likely go for something like the Happy Trail SU rack.

Had an opportunity to transfer to GP to the Erco plant but don't want to leave this area.

Those are nice bikes...what is the TWC wire upgrade? and how much extra fuel do you have in that IMS tank?

I would buy my kids an extra bike, but seeing that the oldest is only 4, I would have to ride until then.....HHMMMM. (I can hear my wife yelling at me already) :-)
Just as well about the transfer, the housing market is stupid up here right now, I would not want to be in the buyers market right now. But with the drilling slow down and the crazy amount of new houses that are being "slapped" up, I can't see the prices staying high for long. But what do I know!

Terry, from Hythe, AB. Just purchased a 1997 KLR650 two weeks ago. 12,500km on the clock. Put on new IRC GP-1 tires. New fork seals. Repacked swingarm and shock pivot bearings. Waiting on new chain and sprockets and doohickey kit to arrive. Then waiting for spring.
