Welcome from another Albertan (well, transplanted one). I saw folks out riding Christmas day and afterward, and it looked like the riding season was right around the corner...

Not anymore...  WTF?

Same temp at my place last night. A slight breeze and man is it cold. Yea, it may be awhile for spring. We are dead in the middle of winter. As a friend told me the other day, we live in Northern Alberta and we know it going to get cold, so suck it up and deal with it.
Remember, don't get affectionate with your KLR and touch your tongue on any metal parts at this temp!

Baron, I'm in Hythe. We should hook up one of these days. Do you like to ride gravel roads?
KLR650canuck, you too. What can we plan for around this area?

For sure!  I have some plans to start visiting different "attractions"  on weekends water falls etc.

cause of the gravel roads up here is why I bought a dual sport.

Talk about resurrecting an old thread!  Hi everyone, name's Chase and I'm from Grande Prairie as well.  I bought an 06 Green in sept of 09, and can't wait for the 2010 season to begin.

Good to see there are a few KLR people here too!

Well, the 2010 riding season is sorta here, took the bike out on Wednesday for an hour or two.  +3 and loved every minute of it.  Sunday's looking good for another few hours on the bike too.  Any brave souls from Grande Prairie wanna go for a little tour?

Yes, the 2010 Season is here. It looks like a great weekend with 14-16C the next couple of days. I'm still breaking in my new Blue '09. About 250km on the clock so far in the last month. Not bad as I see it for Calgary in February and March when we normally don't get any riding in. I've been having a problem with the back tire since day 1. The first time I rode it, about 6 weeks after picking it up, the back tire was almost flat. I had it to the dealer about 3 weeks ago who said the valve was seated badly. Unfortunately, when I checked it last weekend the back was down from 28lb to 16lb so on Monday I have to take it back and they're going to check the tube.

It's been a change riding a dual compared to my Honda CBF-1000. A totally different riding style in every way. It'll be interesting this year. I'm planning lots of day trips around AB and looking forward to getting out.
