Valve Pucks

I would like to purchase some valve pucks in advance of an extended tour (to take with).

My belief is that the valves ordinarily seat more into the head with use and that the valve clearance decreases over time.

Is this your experience?

If I purchase thinner pucks than I have fitted now will I be golden?

 I'm not sure about every engine but I just adjusted mine with about 4200 miles on the bike and they had all tightened up, especially the exhaust valves and I had to get 2 sizes thinner.So if you know what's in there now that should be good,you can also use 29mm shims for BMW K engines and they are usally cheaper.

 Also,I was going to say,I don't know how far you are going but if you adjust them to the loose side of the tolerance they should be good for a long time and it will be alot easier to do at home than out on the road.

Yeah, unless you are going around the world once you get the set it should not change for a long time. I check mine every 10,000 miles but I think I could safely go twice that.

The valves do close up. If you wanna buy shims just go a size or two smaller on each shim.

I will do as advised and fit loose and get a size smaller shim to carry with me.
