G'day,

I'm from NSW in Australia and have been riding for nearly 2 years now and have recently upgraded from a 1996 XV250 Virago to a 2009 KLR650 (massive jump & difference) It has only done 5,500 km's so it is still pretty much new!

I ride everyday, to and from work, everywhere and anywhere...

Now I plan to do some more big road trips or as i like to call them "Tours". Are there any modifications you would recommend me to do to enhance the everyday use of the bike? Things that help it in performance for not only road use but offroad adventures, Things such as the T-Mod, Doohickey, Fog/Flood Lights etc. ??? The carburetor has already been de-restricted by the previous owner. I need to try and fit the bike with instruments and gadgets that can make the ride all the more comfier and enjoyable then it already is!

Any advice or help would be most appreciated!  Happy!

Cheers,
Aaron. burnout

Welcome Aaron! Engine guards and a skid plate for off road adventures. With some guards you'll get the highway pegs as a bonus for highway use. Wire in a 12v adapter for cell phone or GPS if you are into that. A fused two wire SAE plug right off the battery for air pump use, silicone grips, better handlebars and MX style pegs. Those are few of the things I did.

Thanks JV,

I do have a Motorbike GPS unit that i need to wire up, I was looking into engine guards and they do seem like a good investment. I did see a mod on youtube where this guy mounted a marine cigerette lighter socket inside the radiator fairing, this seems like it may be something to look into as most gadgets come with the lighter fitment these days and you never know what you may need to power/charge!

I'm really looking forward to getting into the outback and start a real adventure!!!

cheers!

I don't know about over there but here the NG bikes here already have the t-mod.
I would reccomend crash bars I have SW-Motechs, A good skid Plate like the one from JNS Engineereing, The Doo, and maybe some barkbusters with shields.

At that point you bike is well protected no risk of doo problems and you just ride it to find out what other things you dislike and need to change. (seat, exhaust sound, better storage, ECT.)

Hope this helps Awesome
