OK, so over the last couple of days i have been fiddling around with the KLR and i have managed to somehow fit everything and make it all work!!!

Fitted: -GPS!
          -Spot Lights!
          -12v Power Socket!
          -Radiator Fan Bypass Switch!
          -Modified Seat!

The GPS, Spot Lights and 12V Power Socket and all run through a custom Fuse box i installed and everything has been water proof and all switches look like they are stock! I am very pround of my first modifications!

Nice!  How about that custom fuse box? Got any pics of that? Where did you put it? How did you wire it in?

hey guys, sorry i did try and up load multiple pictures but it didnt seem to work  thinking...

I mounted the fuse box on the back off the little computer housing thing to the left of the steering just under the fairing... The Lights, Gps and 12 Volt supply all run through the fuse box , first the 3 negative wires run to an earth point, in this case to a bolt entering the frame, then the positive wires run separately through the fuse box and for the GPS and Lights i have them then joint to the main headlight positive wire as that is an accesories wires to begin with (turns on/off with the key) then the 12 volt power supply is run off constant power which is connected to a white wire which is visable from behind the radiator overflow on the right hand side of the bike (not sure what it is for)...

The Bypass for the fan basically is two wires that are "piggy backed" off the two existing wire running out of the temperature sender at the bottom of the radiator, these run to a switch mounted in the dash and when the switch is engaded the fan is then on and when the switch is off the fan operates like it did factory (turns on at a certain temp). Reason for this certain mod is here in australia we get some really hot days and i dont like the bike to run too hot especially in slow city like traffic...

Hopefully that helps...

Nice mods.  I just picked up my new '09 yesterday and plan to run the fan bypass switch through the "kill" switch ... in other words, disconnect the "kill" function and use it for the fan.  I've done this on a couple of other m/cycles and it works great.

Also, I'm scratching my head to figure out how to install dual filament bulbs in the turn signals so they will be on a low illumination, like the tail running light, and then bright when in "turn" mode.  Greater visibility ...

Good mods, keep posting.

Thanks guys!

Norms 427, yer the bypass switch comes in handy i must say! im not too sure about how to do that with the turning signals i might have a muck around and ill post something if anything pops up!

littledave, the seat is fantastic! i sure did modify it, i got my upholsterer to carve out the bulk of were my legs sit which makes it comfortable for riding aswell as making it easier to put your feet down without the edge of the seat cutting into your inner thigh! after that was done i  had 6mm extra foam put on and then a choice of materials which in my case was black "grippa" and white carbin fiber looking material! its definatley has made a difference! its worth $280 Australian dollers.

Aaron.  Happy!

Aaron, this is the third annual KLRRR. First was in Alice Springs over June long weekend. 3 riders made it. Last year it was at Packsaddle, NSW. More than 15 riders made it. Thsi year we're hoping to better 20. It is at the camp ground at Khancoban over the Anzac weekend this yr. Just an excuse to go for a really long ride and spin some bulls--- with like minded riders. Only those who turn up to this yrs event can vote on where the next one will be. See over at klr650.net for more detail. http://www.klr650.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=84

Gday Aaron (DUBL-A)
I certainly have recovered from the crash, just a few scratches and some parts and gear planned to come soon, hopefully by christmas!

Ill post some pictures of the lights later on today when i get home!
I am looking at up grading (yet again) all the lights on the bike to a higher wattage or something as they arent bright enough for my liking, being in open areas with no street lights most of the time...

Where abouts do you live? i have seen a klr come through my area of the same colour scheme once and besides that im the only klr owner in town  I'm cruizin'
