Muttaburra QLD

About Muttaburra

Muttaburra

Approximately 1200kms North-West of Brisbane, located on the banks of the Thomson River is the small town of Muttaburra.

The town’s name was derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "meeting of the waters”. Muttaburra is home to just over 100 people.

Muttaburra’s main ‘claim to fame’ is as the discovery site of the Muttaburrasaurus in 1963. There is now a full sized replica of the 12 metre long and 2 metre high dinosaur in the town.

Considering the town is small in population, there is quite a bit to do including; fishing, golfing, tennis, water-skiing, swimming in the Olympic size swimming pool and shooting at the local range.

Muttaburra also boasts attractions including; the Memorial Medical Museum (medical history) and a race course.

Muttaburra accommodation includes the Exchange Hotel (providing meals and accommodation) and a caravan park with powered sites.

Some lucky fellas are still making there way home the long way
