It was about 32 deg. this morning riding in and the liner in my Fieldsheer Zero Condition just didn't quite cut it.  It wasn't too bad, but it was a bit chilly on my chest and inner arms.

So...  I'm looking for a fleec jacket to wear under the jacket instead of the zip-in quilted nylon liner.

Aerostitch has some, motorcycle specific, fleece jackets for $87 to $127  yikes

Does anyone know where else I can find a low-bulk windproof fleece jacket that is motorcycle specific in regards to forward rotated sleeves, low collar, etc.??

I'd like to be able to wear it w/o the Fieldsheer jacket too.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

I just received - like in 10 minutes ago - a sales flyer from Aerostitch.  Their fleece sweaters - TL1 - $72, TL-2 - $77!

I have one of their fleece liners and you stay comfy in colder weather!

Granted, their gear is expensive, but I believe you do get what you pay for!

There's tons of outfitters and even the cheapie ___Mart typoe stores have the stuff. One really popular one in the NW is http://www.columbia.com/ They make some really quality gear albeit not cheap.

Havw you tried REI.com or Cabelas.com or something like that? Bicycilist, hunters, and fisherman need to stay warm and dry also. Another would be something related to snow.

Hey Now,

I was shopping for a windproof fleece, but I kept coming across 100-300 buck editions of these particular wind proof fleece products. I found this at Duluth Trading Company, completely windproof and cheaper, long tail, under arm gussets to keep sleeves from riding up, stand up collar.....for 69 bucks! I felt a windproof fleece as a liner would be better than just plan ole fleece. I have a Patagonia fleece I have been using for 22 years now and it has served me well, but the windproof stuff is the cat's meow.  thumb

Having spent waaaay too much money on climbing gear in the past for ice climbing, ya, I climb frozen water, just gotta watch out for the wet stuff Yeehaa! anyways, I've found some really good deals through campmore and cheaper than dirt. Campmore always has wind stopper fleece of some sort at a more than reasonable price, cheaper than dirt has them sometimes at extremely good prices.

If you live near a Cabela's?, go in the "Bargain Cave" that is the source for fleece.  They had a ton of sizes in there for like $15, Cabela's brand.

Another suggestion is just wearing a long sleeve T-Shirt underneith.  I have the same jacket as you and I noticed that the liner is cold because it is nylon.  If you wear something under that is cotton, I find it makes a ton of difference.  I have commuted in 30 degrees with just a dress shirt underneith and felt pretty good.

Hey Now,

Just picked up an Aerostitich Windblock fleece for 77 bucks on close out, discontinued model. Tried it out yesterday and it works great, cut for the motorcyclist in all of us. I think they had some XLs left.

I had the same problem with my Tourmaster Intake.  The quilted liner quickly petered out when the temps dropped.  I went to REI(any sports/outdoor store will do) and picked up a fleece pullover.  It has a half zip turtle neck that slips right under my Tourmaster collar.  I usually dont try tops on but since it was going under the jacket, I went a size smaller so it was a little snug to fit better underneath.  Was only like $35.

If you want warm how about an electric jacket liner.  Yea,  I know they cost money but if you make one yourself like I did they only cost about $30 complete.

I started with a $15 cheapo zip jacket from Walmart.  Using about 35 feet of 30 ga wire I stitched it through the inner lining of the jacket.  Added a  RCA phono plug connector (that is on about 12" of wire) and put a female RCA phono plug connector on the bike.

Gives about 35w of warmth ...  ( the 30 ga wire is about 1 ohm per 10 ft)

The nice benifit of making your own heated jacket is you can put the wire exactly where you want it,  so I have the sleeves wired and the front-back wired as I thought best.....
