I am certain that this has been discussed at length here and other places. I still have yet to find what I am really looking for.

Some background. I ride my KLR on my daily 12-15 mile commute. Depending on traffic I take the freeway about 60% of the time and surface streets the rest. I do not have a car so the bike is the only means of travel. I am looking for the best true 4 season set up. I have a mesh jacket now that I don't ever seem to wear because the Army makes me wear a reflective vest over it and it negates the niceness of the mesh. Therefore I need the most HIGH Viz burn your retinas jacket I can get. The yellow AST and Airglide fit that bill to a T.

I have tried them all on and know what sizes to get. I also tried on the Phantom. I liked it but you lose sheer versatility with the one piece because then you can't just wear the jacket or pants with another piece of gear.

Can someone here help me out? I am just a poor Soldier in need of the best protection ensemble that my precious dollars can buy. It seems that everybody that has any one of these setups seems to think that they are all the best out there. I just can't afford to not get it right the first time.

The weather here is mild/temperate. Sometimes HOT mostly not though. Unexpected rain is, well... expected. I carry a full rainsuit but would rather not if my gear will do it for me.

If there is anybody out there that lives in my general area that can provide me some info that would be GREAT. Otherwise anyone who has experience with more than one of these setups and can provide pluses and minuses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.

Cptd, I've noticed the hiway crew wears these wide holed mesh bright vest w/ reflective stripes in the summer because they are cooler.. is that an option for you to allow more air flow?

I have a set of Olympia Airglide 2 overpants that are just great.

With the liner removed, they breathe very well for those hot days. On really hot days I either wear shorts to stay comfortable.

With the rain line zipped in (takes me about 5 min to stop & zip them in), they a keep me dry and the liner also serves as a wind barrier. If I was going on a long trip I would still pack a dedicated set of raingear to use if I encountered a long stretch of rain.

With the liner installed and a pair of jeans on, I was very comfortable in temps to 30 degrees. Adding long johns would add even more warmth.

Does anybody make a true one piece mesh suit, not just the little zipper in the back on a pair of pants and jacket?
Does anybody make mesh with a larger hole size? I think you could go a lot bigger than my Kilimanjaro mesh gear's hole size and still protect well.
How about plumbing? I think I got a line on some 1/4" soaker hose.
I swear sooner or later one of my hobbies is going to drive me to buy a sewing machine and motorcycles might just be the one that does it.
