Ok lack of wind protection compared to the BMW I asume. As good or better protection than your XS Twin was on the KLR?
Keep us posted.... a few would like to hear your thoughts as you get used to her I'm sure.
Yeah, the BMW R1150RT has great wind protection- the KTM not so great. It's about the same as what the XS Twin provided but the not as turbulent. (the XS is off the KLR due to multiple frame failures, it never panned out for me).
There are larger windscreens available and I'll probably buy one in the future.
Yea that's why I switched to the Lynx...

Is that fairing the one you want to put on your KTM?

My 2007 got between 40 and 45mpg riding across country. It was a little too big for me off road.

It's one of the options out there- I'm looking at others as well.
The stock windscreen creates unbelievable high speed turbulence, very uncomfortable to me & my 5' 11" frame.

Well I don't mind riding slow, and since I'm only 5'9", maybe you ought to drop that fancy ride off at my place!
That sure is one sweet rocket boss! Can't wait to see where you take that beast! Don't be shy with the pics.

When I bought my 990 last month I bought the stock KTM/Gobi racks with the intent of using the mermite cans/panniers I made a while back. I really like them because they are narrow (compared to the Gobis), strong, light and about 43 liters capacity.
I had to add a shim to the lower mount (on the can) because the KTM rack is a larger diameter tubing than what they were mounted on before.
I had to make a new upper mount to hold the panniers to the top of the rack using the racks' upper mounting point.
Here are a few photos -

Oh man, and I had put that 990 thing out of my mind...and here you are shilling for the K-tooms!! lol What a beauty!!
Since we're the same height (but I have 30' legs) how's the
reach to the ground? That's the second thing that's kept me
away from that bike......the cost of the first 'oops' being the first....
Enjoy!!!!

I can flatfoot the bike with the sag set properly. Mine is no the "R" model- that has longer suspension travel.
Go by a dealer & throw a leg over one -

OK Hondo, so you plan to spend that much time on that thing.
Really man, what's w/ the tiny mail box on the top case.
Doubt if USPS delivers where you'll be resting.
Do you still have your pilot papers?

The cans look great on the KTM Hondo! That's really a sharp looking setup. Enjoy your trip.
