Gearing changes, remapping FI.

It seems most people use these for 99.4% street so who has changed gearing for lower rpm cruising. Did your mileage change any? How do you like the change? Has anyone remapped the FI or added a power commander or other brand?

Most people are going plus 1 on the front sprocket. I'm thinking of doing it, I have 7.5K miles on my 09. But, over all I like the bike as it is, 70 indicated is 5K rpms (66mph by GPS).

Yup, I went up a tooth on the front and I like it.  Can't say I've noticed any difference in the MPG but it does drop the RPM nicely.  Another benefit is that it corrects the speedometer and makes it pretty much spot on!  It won't get you off the line quite as quickly but that doesn't seem to be very significant.

You could only dream of being able to remap your fuel injection on your KLR!!!

If you are riding is in stop & go traffic leave it stock but if you have some time/distance in high gear then go for the rpm drop.

I have an 09 Versys in blue, 08 KLR650 in red, 11 H-D V-Rod in yellow. I think I was on the right planet

Another benefit is that it corrects the speedometer and makes it pretty much spot on!  It won't get you off the line quite as quickly but that doesn't seem to be very significant.

I'm curious how a sprocket change is going to correct the speedo?  The speedo reads off the front wheel doesn't it?

On the Versys it reads off the crank.

Pssst..... Read your incomplete Sig line..... It says only KLR650! I based my assumption on the presumption that you were telling me what you ride in your Sig line. You provided incomplete data thus skewing my mindset and making my investigative result less than accurate. Sorry, my bad. (And... Fix your Sig line to display truth so a person can apply weight to responses according to your true experience and expertise.)
