called my agent yesterday and had her run the figures for me.  for full coverage, my versys will run me $48/month.  this is through progressive.  i was actually expecting it to be a bit higher.  if i owned it outright, i could drop some of the necessary coverages since it's new and financed and insurance would run me about $15/month.  something to look forward to in the future (WAY, way future) once the bike has depreciated considerably.

some of the other companies she ran had some extreme quotes!  as some have mentioned on this forum, since this bike is new and fits an interesting niche, i think some insurors are putting the bike in the wrong category.

Be sure to ask for a high collision deductible to save money.  $1000 is probably the highest they'll quote, $500 for sure.

What ever you do, don't let them sell you a $100 collision deductible!  Waste of money. here's the deal-

High deductible = money in the bank (or your pocket, if you prefer)!

i have a $1k deductible.  $500 deductible would have increased the yearly premium $150 more.

I've got my Versys, V-Strom, KLR and KLX all insured with GEICO.

For full coverage, 100,000/300,000/500,000 liability, comprehensive with $500 deductible it's like under $200 per year.

My refund check from another insurance company, which had 6 months left on the policy, more than paid for my one year premium with GEICO.

I do have multiple bikes insured, MSF discount and MSF Instructor discounts.

After Marty suggested GEICO to me, I got a quote & it was almost half of the Progressive quote, and I don't get any of the discounts that he does.
When I can finally get a Versys, at least I know where to get it insured!

i went online and put in my info for geico and the coverage was way more expensive than the progressive quote.  around $116/month.  don't know if i put in the information incorrectly or if that's accurate.  the only discount that would apply for me is the MSF course discount.

maybe i should call them and give them my info?  they might know something i don't know . . .

just called geico and gave them the info on my versys.  whole different quote now for insurance than when i ran the info online.  looks like i can insure my versys for $338/year with geico.  saving of about $230 over progressive.  definitely switching to geico.  isn't that in a commercial??? laugh
