Interested in Versys, but have a question

I really like the Versys, however, the bike is just too short from the seat to the pegs for me.  I'm 6'6" and have a 36" inseam.  I was wondering if anybody has had a Renazco seat made for this bike and if they could post some pics.  Has anybody had a seat reworked to be more of a dualsport seat and get rid of the dip?  I've done a lot of internet searches but come up empty.  I have noticed that some are lowering the pegs with new brackets.  That would be a must for me as well.  Thanks for any input.

call rick meyer seats, they can make anything & are waaaayyy comfy. they are'nt cheap, but neither is a renazco.

While I'm only 6' (32" inseam), I found that as well. I purchased the lowering foot peg blocks from Motowerk, and it's made a world of difference.  There are quite a few threads regarding seat mods on another forum devoted to the Versys, and at least one person successfully modified the seat to remove the dip. I know that I'm also thinking about doing that (provided I can get a second seat cheaply to experiment with), as I feel a bit confined by the dip.

Thanks for the information.  I have contacted Renazco, but have not heard back from them yet.  I think the seat would be perfect without the dip.  Can you mount aftermarket pegs to the lowering blocks?  I couldn't tell from the pictures if it was possible.  Thanks for your help.

Also people have been using after market foot pegs. Some have switched to dirt style.

You could also go to the UK Versys forum. I quit going there due to a couple of people criticizing the US and my views on their American bashing. I never once bashed the EU or the UK, but I now have a definitive opinion on how many of them look at us.

Possibly...if they are bolt-on replacements for the stock pegs, I don't see why they wouldn't work.  Here's some pics of them installed.

For the seat mod I referred to, check the Kawasaki Versys forum that maloy mentioned. If you search for Ted99uk, you see how he modified it to remove the dip.

Well, I checked. Nope, the high gel seat isn't offered in Canada. Their best guess is that Kawasaki is only offering it in Europe as a trial, and if it sells well, it might be offered over here at some point.

Some guys like gel seats, but it seems a lot more don't.
I find them kind of "squirmy", like sitting on a beachball. Plus, they heat-soak in the summer and cold-soak in the winter. And the seat covering often de-laminates from the gel after a while.
I'm sure some gel-lovers will jump on this, it's just my observation and that of several people I know who have used, then got rid of gels.
But like they say, "There is a saddle for every ass, and an ass for every saddle!"

this is a first post on here for me after a bit of reading . are you serious about this message? the only things i think off is jokingly said words followed by a   or   . i might be misled by missing something and perhaps you could point me towards it. but bashing the USA--i think not

the high gel kawaski seat or low one is not squishy but very hard ,it works well but you have to be on it for 60 miles or so before you think "this is comfy"

Hi guys, I live in Guatemala and own a KLR 08 that bought in 10-07 that started to burn oil heavily after some miles, I really love my bike after replacing the piston with a 685cc schnitz racing that the dealer didn't cover. 

This last Sunday I meet some new friends in a country town we visit and one of them had a Versys, he pass me at 75 plus miles and I joust get hook with the sound and response of that bike, I have decide to buy a street second bike butt I'm doing my home work first (don't want more surprises with a new bike) my question is.

What's the difference between a Versys, er-6n- ninja 650????,  which one do you recommend as a week end cruiser, traffic bike and traveling bike?, all around except off road.

I don't drive my bike every day but when I need to go down town I really love the torque of my KLR in traffic situations, I try the Yamaha fazer 600cc, it's very fast but no torque.

What do you guys recommend?

I believe all three (Versys, er-6n, and Ninja) are built around the same engine. The Versys is the tallest and has the most upright seating position, the ER-6N is a street-fighter type design (shorter, minimal fairing, etc), and the Ninja is the classic sportbike.

I can only speak for the Versys, as that's what I've ridden. The ER-6N is too short for my needs, and I don't really like sportbikes that much. The Ninja does nothing for me. The Versys, however, is a great bike for commuting and weekend rides.

 I LOVE It Still 2.5 Yrs Later. 14,000 Miles Mostly Street Riding But Do Ride It Off Road, 50/50 Dot Tires, Its A Torque Monster At Low RPM's, And Will Take Me Into Triple Digits, Almost as Fast as My 1000 Kaw. Concourse. That I sold soon after Buying The Versys. Some Call It The Little Bike That CAN.  

The Versys, Has More Low End Torque Than The Ninja, From Cam Timing Changes. I'm Not sure about er-6n Motor. Maybe Someone Else Can Speak on That Motor.
