Hey Guys!

You probably know I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I just saw a small article in the newest RIDER magazine, testing the Versys against the V-Strom 650.  Also a full ride report on the Versys.

Either way, both look like a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!

Now that I have ridden both bikes I have to agree with the comparison done in Rider. I will probably take my AK trip on a V-Strom 650 and then trade it for a Versys when I get back. thumb

If I can afford to buy one, I'll see if I can maybe talk Marty into it.

If you talk me into it, I'll be on my V-Strom 1000.

I like the Versys a whole lot.  However for a trip of that length, I would ride the V-Strom.  It offers more protection to the rider from the elements and that means a whole bunch when riding for long periods of time.

Perhaps with a bigger windshield . . . . but that would detract from the character of the Versys.

It'll be interesting when Honda's new adventure bikes enter the North American market.. Now if only Yamaha brings the XT660 and Tenere...

Choice is good  thumb

The Varadero and the TransAlp are both coming to Canada in 08, it won't be long before they bring them to the US.

Nah, it's perfect, you wont even have to buy a Versys for that.  Since Marty will be on his V-Strom, he'll be happy to lend you his Versys, and then you can prove his choice of bikes wrong...   naughty

That's quite brilliant, actually. Devious, but brilliant! I like it!!!  super
I've already packed 2 pairs of socks, some underwear & 6 candy bars. I'm ready! Oh yeah, I suppose I'll need a jacket.
OK, now I'm really ready.
No, wait a minute, I'll need more skeeter repellant, a tent & a sleeping bag. Oh, and my blankie..................
Marty, besides your Versys, can I also borrow your credit card? I might think of more supplies we'll need.
