Ok Gadget-

So far you leading the "The Most Stuff Carried on a KLR650" contest.

 Way to go!

What borders are we talking about? Gotta be pretty far for an IBA member.

Canada to Mexico in under 36 hours.

My time was 35hrs 8 minutes, almost non-stop (no sleep) and a distance of a little over 1600 miles one way.

Nope. Stocker. I do have a gel pad sewn into the sheepskin though. I find that with the stock seat I'm good for about the first 1000 miles, then I need to start shifting around.

Wow dude! You definitely have my respect for ability to cover some major distance.  Did you have a prescription for Rittalin or what.  I don't  knoe hoe you could stay sharp riding those kind of hours.

 I'm cruizin'

The tricks I use are as follows:

1. Music
2. Stop and take a short break anytime I start to feel myself getting complacent/fatigued
3. Stay hydrated
4. I make a habit of moving my head to look around me, not just my eyes.

On that ride, I think I caught my 'second wind' about 3 times:

When I turned off I15 onto Utah 20 at about midnight to get onto US89 - lots of critters and a bit chilly; paranoia mode was toggled to 'full'
After I got to Page Arizona and had a real, sit-down meal. That really picked me up and gave me the juice to keep going.
When I turned off I10 onto I19 and realized that I was actually going to make it.

What is your average speed on a ride like that?

87kph (54mph) is my usual average for a SaddleSore ride. My average speed for the B2B ride was 73kph (46mph). If I could have maintained my usual average, then I would have completed the B2B in 29 1/2 hrs instead of the 35 that it took me.

Which Pelican cases are those?

They're not. Similar though; they are Doskocil brand cases that a friend of mine gave me. All the same features as Pelican cases, but at least half the price. the Doskosport site seems to be down right now, so I can't tell you exactly what model they are, but they have served me well over the last couple years. I'm going to try to replace them (and the rack) with some larger capacity aluminum panniers and a beefier rack sometime this winter. I've been finding out that they just don't hold quite as much as I might like them to (damn laptop bag is just a little too tall to fit in the case)
