Wow dude! You definitely have my respect for ability to cover some major distance. Did you have a prescription for Rittalin or what. I don't knoe hoe you could stay sharp riding those kind of hours.

The tricks I use are as follows:
1. Music
2. Stop and take a short break anytime I start to feel myself getting complacent/fatigued
3. Stay hydrated
4. I make a habit of moving my head to look around me, not just my eyes.
On that ride, I think I caught my 'second wind' about 3 times:
When I turned off I15 onto Utah 20 at about midnight to get onto US89 - lots of critters and a bit chilly; paranoia mode was toggled to 'full'
After I got to Page Arizona and had a real, sit-down meal. That really picked me up and gave me the juice to keep going.
When I turned off I10 onto I19 and realized that I was actually going to make it.
