I think I would have stronger words if my right foot was torn off...but I think I get it!! Your right peg was torn off...?? Tap it or replace it ...what is easier??

Yes, I'm thinking a doctor would be a better approach if your foot is tore off! That's funny ! poke

I did a helicoil insert on mine. Wasn't hard to do. The other alternative that some guys like is to just weld the pegs on. However if you ever need to remove it for access, you'll obviously need to cut it off.

I welded my pegs on and have never looked back. You just weld them in a manner that you can grind the weld off if you need to get the engine out. I just had remove mine to get my engine out and it was simple 2min with as grinder and my peg was off and everything was ground smooth and ready to be rewelded.

Helicoil works well. DO NOT drill through the frame.

Clearly what Hondo posted is the only real solution...unless you want to kick the problem down the road so it can come up again later at a most convenient time.

It ain't fun or easy, but replacing the fastener hardware (nuts and bolts) for the footpegs is the only "right" way to go about it. If I bought a second KLR, I'd do that upgrade immediately before I even had a problem, it's that important and that much of an upgrade. We may be able to rely on Kawasaki steel throughout most of the bike, but clearly the durability of the subframe bolts and footpeg hardware are things that no one should count on for even a second!

And if you don't strip 'em they'll manage to fall out. Cross-threading is as good as loctite. Once.
