As the title says. We went down hard.

Well it was hard for me. First time I have ever hit another car in my life.

Was getting onto the highway and the car in front of the truck in front of me stopped suddenly (for no reason I might add) causing the truck to stop suddenly. I however could not avoid this one. I clipped the back right of the truck and flew over the front of the bike. Bike slid into another car.

Damage was minimal. No damage to truck and the car was just scratched. Bike however didnt fair to well

The headlight and whole front assembly is broken and bent, The front brakes work but have been losing pressure (might not be directly connected to the wreck) and the hand guards are ruined.

I am bruised up and sore but alive. Thankfully.

Now my problem. I have no money, work 4 to five part time jobs, and barley scrape by as it is. So i need to know if there is anyone out there with knowledge to help me find the cheapest possible way to repair the head light, plastics and metal frame or get a new one completely.

its a 2000 650 and she is my baby. just rolled to 32,000 and i want to see 50 on her.  Any help is welcome guys. thank you

Holy smokes! Glad you are OK.

Insurance going to chip in for any of the repairs? Make sure your forks are not bent also.

I'm glad to hear you fared as well as you did.  My son just went down on his for the first time. Luckily no other cars were involved.  His damage sounds similar to yours.

Post up some pics and take an inventory of what you need to get her back on the road.  You never know what the KLR family can come up with.

Get that truck driver to corroborate the car stopped for no reason story and sue the car driver until he bleeds! You were injured and someone is at fault. I sound like an attorney...I am not... but I get that way when riders are injured due to someone else's negligence!   Arrrrg! but mostly...Glad you are ok!  Awesome

Very glad to hear you are OK.. The insurance road is a long one... hopefully the guy in the truck has a good understanding of the car ahead of him negligence and reported it that way.
I checked your map location.. you are very far away from my shop...I recommend  your modify your user details viewed beside your post, so folks can more readily see your general location.. especially ones with space to help in short order for put your baby back together.

Best of luck with the days ahead.

Glad you're okay! That sounded scary! If I see anything on ebay or craigslist I shall let you know. I can relate to the making ends meet bit.

I will post pics tonight and a list of broken things.

The forks are ok. The truck was high up, pretty much level with the headlight.

Insurance is not going to cover. The car in front and the car the bike slid into left before police arrived.

don't laugh but this is how I fixed an impromptu head light on my xr 650 when I smacked a tree hard sideways years ago {don't ask } you need a regular dual beam car head light from walmart, about $12, a package of fiberglass mat and a can of resin and a couple bits of scrap metal or your old head light frame. Use the fiberglass to make a bulb holder,  wrapping the 'glass around the head light so it holds it firmly.'glassing in the metal brackets you fabricate or 'glass it directly to your hold head light frame, make sure it's in a half way decent angle to shine light on the road. Use some scrap wire and make jumpers so you can attach the wire to the head light power points. It will function just as the old light, might not be pretty but will last until you can get it done up right. When you do get the right stuff to fix it, just use a hacksaw blade and cut the 'glass.

Sorry took me a while to get these up. Been mega busy. Basically the whole front is bent and broken.  Gonna see if I can find a new one or salvage one from another bike.
Still on a really low budjet but need my baby to be better.

Your going to have to get the front cowl assembly off to see what you need inside.  The plastic cowl is about $80 new and I doubt you will find a used one any cheaper by the time you have it shipped.  The good news is you can continue to use the broken one.  The metal frame inside is bent but you may be able to straighten it and use it.  You definitely need a new headlight and bulb.  Its a good time to upgrade to HID.

Your turn signals and windscreen look good to go.  Do they work?

Signals work fine. The frame on the inside of the cowl is bent to hell and the headlight mount as well. Seems that if i want all new it will be about 200.  Guess it will stay like that for a while.

I have a few odd parts from past projects but nothing that would help you out.  In the past I have looked for parts on ebay, craigslist and the classified sections of websites like this one.

Sorry, but I don't see that happening. some time ago there was a family riding 4 separate m/c along the highway. A 20 year old girl in a car hit the brakes and skidded to a stop. 3 of the 4 riders slammed into the car. The wife and mother (same person) of the other 3 was able to avoid a collision.  2 of the 3 who collided did not survive. The wife does not blame the girl as she had stopped for a family of ducks.   The girl was charged but they could not convict her as the general rule is if you can't stop then you are following to closely or driving with undue care and attention. Be glad to be able to walk away. I once went through a red and nailed a Honda civic. I ripped the rear bumper off and went down. I walked away with 30.00 in parts and a ripped jean jacket. Didn't even have a scratch or cut from it.
