All depends on how much was damaged, and how much you want to spend.
And most important what you want to do here's the violin music...
This bikes are easy to work on, and cheap also. By cheap I mean cheaper than most other.
There are lots of material for them, if you look closer.
Depending on your decision tell us wich way you'll chose.
And some pointers might come along  Wink!

Probably get by with some valves and rings.Check the cam chain wear. Its a nice little engine and usually a real easy fix. They really like steady maintenance valve adjustments but it takes very little time to do.Usually when hard to start and /or the idle won't stay set and the carb is perfect its past due a valve adjustment. These are good engines that patch up and hold nicely.Wink!

I was thinking about doing the 280cc bb kit for 235$ and 4 new valves and put it back together would that be all I need to do. I might put a new cam chain in there while I'm there but everything else looks great. Also wouldent mind putting stock kawi piston and rings in there and keeping it a 250. Would I need to replace anything in the head besides the valves??

DON'T go for an overbored kit without doing the bottom end. In the end you'll understand why.  banghead
DON'T take any decision before take it apart and find out what you really need  here's the deal-
DON'T start dreaming with big horse power without knowing how much money or effort you want to spend  Drool...

DO choose wisely every component you put on that engine.
DO the best you can with the money you've got.
DO start with the basic i.e. ball bearings, oil seals, gaskets, chain guides, for instance
DO take a look at my thread there's some useful info in there.  Too funny!

For example you mention 235$ for an overbored kit.
I got that Namura piston (Stock 74mm) for some 60$.
Consider the difference in horsepower/torque you can expect...
Need to say more?  Wink!
