KLR250 wheels..Now a build thread..

This is my first KLR...1988 without wheels (got it for $30)..She's a builder, for sure..Question is, what other wheels fit this thing other than those for it? Also, what is the year range for other parts..I.E. seat, fenders etc.?

Hi seems to me that you'l be a very active Ebayer soon.
But your lucky about year range for most parts.
From the first to the last, most parts are interchangeable, namely seat, fenders...
Look for KLR wheels:
From 250~650 front (not disc brakes)
250 only for rear wheel (drum brake).

I'm active on ebay for all my bikes..this is just the first Kawasaki I've ever owned. From what I gather, the 600 rear wheel is the same? evan the drum brake..the front wheels are ok, but the rotor is not.

She needs work, for sure..Missing wheels, seat and rear fender and I need to go through the engine..I'll get a shot of it tomorrow as it's tucked behind other stuff now and all my bike stands have bikes on them..

It's always fun to start a new project. But usually I prefer to start with something more "complet"

My next project as so much weeds and all around scrap, that it's hard to see.
Even harder to touch since it's dificult to reach
Edit: Sorry hijacked your thread with coments on scooters...
Can be seen here without messing with you thread

Ok..found an EX250 really cheep (no body panels)..Has anyone ever put the little Ninja motor in a KLR frame? Wheels and all the other stuff to make a supermoto out of it? Just a thought, but it's starting to grow in my head.

...Ninja motor in a KLR frame...
There are people who never seem to be happy with their bikes
Thank God I'm not alone.
Anyway that sounds good, one of those new 250R with injection, would be just fine for me

It's not that I'm not happy with the power..I just wanted to see if I could make something unique..I have bigger bikes for my other purposes. This one is gonna' be the girlfriends bike..She's fit and knows how to ride, just really small. My DR350 is too tall for her.

Looks nice for a project.
Hihihi I started mine more or less the same
By the way about that EX250 engine.
Weight is not very far from the KLR power plant, carburetors are also CVK (dual off course). And it already as electric start.
Just wondering how different are those frame members, where they attach to the engine?
Can you get some detail photos, mainly engine and frame?
Here in Portugal there are not much EX250 or even new ninjas with EFI.
But you'll never know when one might come up in some scrap yard

Well, I got myself a WHOLE bunch of parts today..extra engine, wheels, side panels, seat, wire harneses, forks, etc, etc...and the best part..all for $80. Looks like I'll have this thing finished faster than I thought!
I gave up on the idea of puting the little ninja engine in it..This is gonna be a short bike for the girfriend.

$80... Who did you steal from?
Nice deal, I say. Looks like you'll be busy next few weekends.
By the way. Don't forget that part about photos.

Well it's time for jet-wash work.
Good deal indeed.
Have you considered changing the subject of this thread?

Well, still waiting on my new tires so I can take bike to power wash..(so I can roll it onto the trailer). Did change out the forks though. They didn't need to be "worked" because they came off a running bike after a fork swap.

Are those forks from another KLR250, or some other model?
