Newbie needs help!
«

Hello everyone from UK. Just bought my first ever Kawasaki (shame on you they cried!). Its a 97 kl 250 which I am really pleased with and it's quite sedate and not scary, this is a good thing because I'm old and fat. I think its about 15hp but everyone seems to have a different opinion. However, I wouldn't mind a bit more power
I don't really want to get into serious mods or re-jetting etc. Does anyone know if the exhaust has any restrictors (my son has a ttr 250 and that had one), or are there any simple things I could do.
Thanks for listening (reading) and I hope to hear from you.

Hello Jim and thanks for the welcome. I haven't had any suggestions regarding my question yet, is it too soon or do you think it is because someone else has posted the same question and I should look through for the answer, I'm not sure how it all works yet.
thanks again,
regards,
Mike.

It takes a little time for the 250 guys to show up to answer questions. Not near as many of them as the 650's. I think the exhaust is similar to the 650 and the muffler is all one solid unit which requires drilling with a hole saw to remove the baffle.
I'll move this thread to the 250 section as well.

I have a 2000 KL 250 Super Sherpa which I think is what you have. There really is not much you can do to add more HP to them with out doing a lot of work. Not many aftermarket exhausts. The best thing to do is rejet and drop a tooth on your front sprocket. Welcome to the forum and enjoy. They are sweet little bikes.
