Just bought a 2002 Sherpa with 4700 miles. Have zero experience with this model. I bled both brake lines. The rear brake is nearly useless. While stopped and using the brake pedal, I can just roll the back tire a little. Is this normal? I realize that the rear brake is weakest on all bikes, but this is a problem to me.  Normal or not? Thanks in ADVANCE.   puzzled

Not normal at all.

Have you checked the pads for wear? Or, checked them to see if they are positioned correctly?

I'd check the brake line for a small hole that's loosing pressure. Or, check the master cylinder.

One last thing, maybe check the pedal adjustment to make sure it's actuating correctly.

I dunno.

Something's not right and I wouldn't ride it til you get it figured out.

Same problem - solution was to replace brake pads - mine fell apart when removed resolved

I'll check/replace the pads if needed. Thanks.

Try giving the disk and pads a good wash down with brake cleaner (NOT FLUID yikes) and a scotch-brite pad. Sherpa's rear brakes may not be the best in the world, but if they've got any kind of oil or contamination on them, they're won't work much at all.
