 Hmmmmm...
Hello, I just purchased this bike a few days ago. 2002 KLR250 with 9300 miles on it.
Bike wont idle. Here is what I've done, I've been reading as many of these posts about carb I could find.
Changed oil, Cleaned air filter and oiled, Adjusted the valves this morning (run better since), cleaned the carb, drilled the slide, added the washer to the needle (.030")
bike has the factory jets, 118 main, and 35 pilot. Air screw at 2 turns. Dumped the gas and added new. Starts up well with the choke, We are at 4100 ft. alt. So I'm thinking the pilot jet is the problem.
Any help would be great. Mark

Most of the time it's the pilot jet. Also, might be sucking air around the intake manifold between the motor and carb. Check that by spraying chain lube around it while it's running, if it reves up that's the problem.

 I'm whipped !
Well I tried using carb cleaner around the intake boot, did not seem to change. I'm wondering if the space below the jet is plugged?
Should it idle here with the stock jet?

The altitude shouldn't be an issue.  The idle jet is tiny and easily fouled.  Did you remove the jet to clean it.  Remove the jet then soak it in some solvent for 10-15 minutes.  Then run a strand of copper wire thru the jet (be careful not to scratch or gouge the jet) to knock out any grunge that is clinging to the jet.  Follow that with a few squirts of carb cleaner or compressed air (don't launch it across the garage) and you should be gould to go.
