Hi Guys,
Thanks for letting me in the group.  I was supposed to be delivered my new 09 KLX 250 today, but per my usuall luck it won't be until tomorrow.  I haven't owned a bike in 12 years (was a 1981 Kaw. enduro) am looking forward to it again.  I hope it has enough oomph to have fun on.  I am 5'9" and 190.  Should be fun around town and trails don't you think?  I bought the red one, only color available in my area (Michigan).  Will post some pics when I get it, and get some tips from you guys on how to make it more fun>  my 35 year old mid life crisis!!!

Congrats Scott!

That bike is on my shrt list of stablemates for the future. I think it would be great for tight singletrack and short trips to the mountains.

Hey, I am back.  Got the bike and love it!  This might be a dumb question, but I am closing in on my break in period and it says to change with 10 40 oil.  Any recommendations?  or just synthetic oil for cars??  great site, thanks!

Some would not recommend Synthetic yet, but I would. I run it in my 650.

Get the Shell Rotella Synthetic 5w-40. Read this article for more complete info on Synthetic and

Thanks!  Is there a good repair/do it yourself type book for these bikes?  Like a Chiltons?  I hate to pester you guys with every silly question, but I am kind of new to this.  Any riders here in michigan?  Also, here is a pic of my new baby (if I do the picture thing right)-maybe not, how do you post pics on here?

The Clymer manual is popular with the KLR650 but I don't see that they have one for the KLX. Maybe some KLX gurus will chime in

Hey Aquasport.  Welcome
The KLX is a wicked ride.
After humping the KLR about the woods here, My new KLX feels like a trials bike.
Have Fun!
