Footpeg lowering suggestions

HELP!
I am interested in lowering the position of the rider's footpegs on my 2012 KLR650. Any suggestions about where peg lowering brackets can be found, sold or sourced would be appreciated. Or any other suggestions or ideas for me to try will be appreciated. Do it yourself ideas are welcome.
Thanks

Get yourself another set of peg mounts off of ebay. Then procure some 1/8 in thick metal stock, maybe 1 1/2 inches wide. With a hack saw cut the peg mount off the part that screws to the frame (do this on the spare pair that you bought). Use the metal stock to position the pegs back and down however much you want and find somebody to weld everything in place.
This is the left peg, looking straight on. It's been moved about an inch back and an inch down:
This is looking from the bike out. Shows the welds, sort of:
Hope this gives you some ideas.

I made and sold the lowering plates for a while but settled on this and never looked back.

Footpeg lowering brackets now available

There is now a source for foot peg lowering brackets for the KLR650.
There is a fellow on the KLR Forum.com who is offering for sale some nice looking peg lowering brackets made of aluminum. They lower the pegs one (1) inch, and move them slightly rearward. The included mounting hardware is all stainless steel. He also offers another set of brackets that move the foot pegs down an inch and rearward about one inch. They look very nice.
If this is something you have been looking for, which I was, then visit the site and see what you think.
These sellers usually only continue this activity for a short time. So don't miss your chance.

Too bad JV's lowering plates aren't still available - I have a set and love them! A few years and many miles later they are still rock solid. And if I do want to go back to stock, not a problem.
Besides the lowered pegs giving us longer legged guys more comfort, they also make it a better fit for my size 15 boots to work with the shifter and rear brake. Much better ergonomics!

I made my own by cutting the box section off the stock pegs and welding it onto a plate that bolted onto the stock mounts. They are a fraction closer in to the frame, but it isn't an issue when you look at the old foot pegs we made do with back in the '80's
. The center stand and crash bar mounts push them out a bit anyway
.
Pic 1: Make plates, I tacked them together so the holes lined up and I only had to mark them once.
Pic 2: Then cut the box/pivot off the factory mounts and welded them to the plates.
Pic 3: A quick go with the file to take the sharp bits off, quick a spray of 'aluminium' Rustgard paint to match the frame and bolt them on
Then you have to modify the brake lever which was a bit of a pain in the bum.
