Like it says I just hit 500 miles on my 08, that finaly gets me off the 4000 RPM notch and bumbs me up to 6000 for the next 1,000 miles. Being able to take it to 6 grand the first time almost felt like hitin the NOS button, I was pleasently surprised at how hard this thing pulls, and it didnt seem to want to stop or taper off at 6 grand. So for now its off for its first service, and maybe its first farckel, will see how the new pipe sounds when I get it back.

Good news there Billet! Make sure they adjust the valves...or at the bare minimum have them report to you in writing the clearances they found.

Welcome aboard Estimado. I can't believe you made it 35 years not being in the saddle!

H'mmm, sure sounds like you might have the first 2008 KLR650 with the "22¢ Smile Maker" and "PerCiVal" mods!

To quote a friend of mine - "You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

From what I understand they dont have to adjust the valves at this time because of the changes in the motor, besides that my wife is friends with the owners of the dealership and I would hope that they would take extra care.
Other then that I'm very pleased with the bike over all, after I get it back on Sunday I'm heading for the dirt to see what this thing can do.

I'll take some new pics when I get it back from service, hopefully with a new pipe on it.
